Well, embedding seems to have been disabled, but this is still a video worth watching. A TV news crew went to Matsushima Air Base shortly after the disaster and filmed the damaged aircraft up close. High performance jet engines with dried weeds stuck in them, and Blackhawk cockpits that look like the inside of a barn.

As James Simpson pointed out earlier today, six of the 18 F-2 fighter trainers at Matsushima are recoverable, the rest write-offs.

Let’s also not forget the 300 base personnel who were unaccounted for after the disaster. Trying to find out more about them right now.
