Thomas at The Blirg (The Blog about International Relations) lets us know about an article he wrote called An Optimist Note on Japan.

Let us get into perspective what is happening right now: Japan has been struck by one of the most powerful earthquakes ever registered in human history. Afterwards, a huge tsunami flooded parts of its coast. These picturesgive you an understanding of what is happening. As if that would not be enough, a number of nuclear power plants are in critical situations. This leads some to declare the country dead already. As if the Japanese did not have enough issues already, they say, now the country is knocked out, forever.

Yet, this is pure nonsense. The Japanese do impressively well.
