- China’s Global Times paper claims that 96 percent of readers favor solving the Senkaku/Diaoyu Islands dispute with Japan by force.

- Aerial reconnaissance of the East China Sea by the Self Defense Forces has confirmed that China has moved gas drilling equipment into the disputed area, known to Japan as Shirakaba and China as Chunxiao.
