I accompanied Nextnavy.com blogger Craig Hooper to the Russian guided missile cruiser Varyag this morning. (When we heard that the Russians and Japanese were both coming to town this week he contacted the Russians and I the Japanese.) Varyag sailed into San Francisco Bay Sunday and is staying until Friday. We were told that a press event was taking place, but generally didn’t know what to expect.

Well, I got to go on board! I stood on top of missile silos! I ate smoked meats!
